Schneider Electric, a leader in the digital transformation of energy management and industrial automation, has been continuously developing its global cyber organisation over the past ten years. The establishment of its own cybersecurity consulting department in Belgium means that Schneider Electric can shift up a gear. Stephanie Tonneau, who was appointed Cybersecurity Leader Belgium in 2021, heads the new department.
Schneider Electric has many years of global experience and a wealth of internal knowledge in the field of cybersecurity, both in terms of products if services. “We have also noticed that cybersecurity is becoming an increasingly important priority for our customers. That is a positive development, but they often do not know exactly where to start. This is an additional reason for us to invest heavily in this area and share our expertise., according to Stephanie Tonneau.
Schneider Electric has developed a standardised advisory concept that is implemented with each customer. Technical experts and consultants assess the organisation and its assets and use this information to determine the appropriate strategy. The guidelines of the industrial IEC 62443 standard procedure are followed in this process.
“When people think of cybersecurity, they often think of IT. Many cybersecurity companies also focus purely on IT. But that is too narrow a view; it is about the combination of IT and OT, especially in a production environment. And that happens to be our strong point.”, adds Patrick Hesters, Cybersecurity Business Consultant at Schneider Electric.
Schneider Electric has 220 factories spread across the globe, where it puts its own strict cyber security standards into practice on a daily basis. A network of software partners complements the company's expertise.
Stephanie Tonneau, the new Cybersecurity Leader Belgium, has been working in IT environments since 2014.
