CEO of Schneider Electric reveals his vision for the company

Schneider Electric, a global leader in energy technology, opened its Global Innovation Summit in Copenhagen. In his first keynote as CEO of Schneider Electric, Olivier Blum spoke about the changing energy landscape and highlighted the company's ongoing transformation to meet the changing needs of the industry. He presented a forward-looking vision that further strengthens Schneider Electric's position as an energy technology partner.

“Everything we hold dear - our planet, our people and our technology - depends on energy,” Blum said. “But today, energy must do more. It must enable us to innovate, compete and create a future that is sustainable and resilient. Schneider Electric is your energy technology partner. We are electrifying, automating and digitising every industry, business and home, promoting efficiency and sustainability for all.”

Blum stressed the urgency of this approach. Global energy demand is expected to increase by 60% increase over the next 15 years, which puts additional pressure on existing infrastructures. At the same time, the share of renewable energy - especially solar and wind - is expected to triple by 2030, requiring smarter and more resilient infrastructure.

“We are all living in a time of profound change,” said Blum. “The changes we are observing, both in terms of climate and technology, are not just challenges, but signals that our industry must continue to evolve.”

“We cannot respond to these changes alone,” he continued. “We have to lead the way. At Schneider Electric, our mission is to help our partners, customers and the industry not only adapt, but thrive in this new era.”

The need for energy technology

Schneider Electric has been at the forefront of energy and technology for many years, leading the fusion of electrification, automation and digital intelligence into what the company defines as energy technology.

The keynote highlighted several customer success stories, including:

• Data centres: Schneider Electric partnered with NVIDIA and EcoDataCenter to build an advanced AI factory for DeepL, the translation platform. This AI innovation hub houses Europe's first NVIDIA DGX GB200 SuperPod, with more than 4,000 GPUs running on Schneider Electric's high-performance infrastructure. The design combines NVIDIA's Mission Control with AVEVA's building management system, allowing everything - from leak detection to thermal management - to be controlled in real time through AI-driven automation.

• Industry: water treatment and management company Acciona worked with Schneider Electric and AVEVA to develop a secure, scalable digital network between its facilities. This enables the company to monitor and analyse energy, process and asset performance in real time. Data is securely collected and processed at the edge, while AI-driven analytics help optimise operations across all sites. The result: up to 5% lower operating costs, less downtime and longer asset life.

• Buildings: Schneider Electric helped consulting firm Sidara create a resilient, energy-efficient and people-centric workplace for more than 1,000 employees in London. The building continuously monitors air quality, temperature and humidity, adapting to the needs of its users in real time. Since opening, the building has achieved 24/7 operational uptime, a comfort score of 90 points according to the WELL Building Standard and significant progress towards the net-zerogoals of Sidara.

The presentation included technology demonstrations within the following themes:

• The Digital Core: Powering AI & Data Excellence - contribute to the next generation of data centres, with strategic partnerships, advances in chip design and advanced cooling technologies such as Motivair by Schneider Electric.
• Intelligent Living & Sustainable Spaces - smart home and prosumer solutions, combined with modernised electrical distribution to support a more resilient, digitally ready energy grid.
• Reshaping Industries with Agile Automation - with EcoStruxure Automation Expert en AVEVA, demonstrating open, software-defined automation platforms.
• Connected Ecosystems & Operational Resilience - services such as EcoCare, the Energy Command Centre and partner-driven solutions for EV infrastructure.

The power of cooperation

The core of Blum's speech revolved around the importance of collaboration. He stressed the need for strong ecosystems and co-creation to accelerate progress. “The challenges ahead are bigger than any single company or industry,” he said. “It is through collaboration and connection that we can unlock the full potential.”

Blum outlined a future where energy is not only available, but also intelligent. In short, a world where homes and industries generate more energy than they consume and infrastructures adapt in real time.

Progressive leaders meet in Copenhagen

Schneider Electric chose Copenhagen as the venue for its annual event because of the city's progressive infrastructure, energy systems and urban innovation. The company brought together more than 100 speakers for over 50 sessions during the two-day event. In addition, more than a dozen side events were organised, bringing together CEOs, entrepreneurs, suppliers and partners from the global Schneider ecosystem to collaborate and exchange ideas.

One of the highlights was Electricians’ Day, where more than 1,500 electricians, including 200 students, came together for an interactive experience preparing them for the skills needed for the smart, sustainable homes of the future.
