Roland Busch, chairman and CEO of Siemens AG, said:

“Siemens Xcelerator makes it easier than ever for companies to make a success of digital transformation - faster and at scale. By combining the real and digital worlds of operational and information technology, we give customers and partners the opportunity to boost productivity, competitiveness and scale up innovation.”

“Our leading portfolio is shifting towards more open applications, with more cloud-based and as-a-service solutions and IoT hardware that can be upgraded continuously. Collaboration will also reach new heights thanks to the growing ecosystem of partners.”

“The launch of Siemens Xcelerator today, the acquisition of Brightly Software this week and our increased partnership with NVIDIA are major milestones within our strategy to accelerate major growth,” Busch concludes.

Easier, faster and scalable digital transformation

The open digital business platform creates value for participants by facilitating interactions and encouraging innovation between customers, partners, developers, among others, because we need to work together to get this done. With the launch of Siemens Xcelerator, Siemens will step by step transform its entire hardware and software portfolio into a modular, cloud-based portfolio built on standard application programming interfaces (APIs). We maintain the highest standards and create value for all parties thanks to our strong technical and commercial governance principles. The offerings from Siemens and our approved third parties adhere to the design principles of interoperability, flexibility, openness and as-a-service.

Launch of new SaaS - Building X Siemens today announced the first new SaaS offering as part of Siemens Xcelerator. Building X is a new suite for smart buildings that creates a single source of truth (SSOT) to make digitisation less complex and help customers meet their net zero targets. It is an end-to-end data and analytics suite that breaks down data silos for domains such as energy management, security and building maintenance. Building X is a modular, fully cloud-based open software suite, with AI-enabled applications, strong connectivity and built-in cyber security.

On Monday 27 June 2022, Siemens announced that it would acquire Brightly Software, a leading US asset and maintenance management software company. The acquisition will add Brightly's established capabilities in key sectors to Siemens' digital and buildings software know-how. It will become a central part of Siemens Xcelerator's buildings portfolio.

Siemens also plans to integrate its industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) solutions for industry as Industrial Operations X, which unifies solutions and applications from sensor to edge to cloud, IoT as-a-service and low-code development, and includes a wide range of ready-to-use apps. In this way, data from the real world of automation can be combined with data from the digital world of information technology, enriched by Siemens' extensive knowledge and capabilities in vertical IT/OT integration. Companies can increase performance, productivity, flexibility and sustainability by breaking down data silos.

Announcing partnership with NVIDIA for a new era of immersive ‘digital twin’ technology

Siemens commits to joining forces and building a strong ecosystem of partners, including on the basis of existing strategic partnerships with Accenture, Atos, AWS, Bentley, Microsoft and SAP. The intention is to further expand the ecosystem of partners to small, medium and large enterprises.

The first major collaboration agreement for Siemens Xcelerator is with NVIDIA. The two companies announced today that they are expanding their partnership to enable the industrial metaverse and increasing use of AI-driven ‘digital twin’ technology that will help take industrial automation to new heights. As a first step in this collaboration, the companies plan to connect Siemens Xcelerator, the open digital business platform, with NVIDIA Omniverse™, a platform for 3D design and collaboration. This will contribute to an industrial metaverse with physics-based digital models from Siemens and physically accurate real-time AI simulation from NVIDIA, where enterprises can make decisions faster and with more confidence.

Confirmation of strategy and objectives for digital growth

The launch of the Siemens Xcelerator platform is the logical next step in Siemens' digital strategy. Siemens will be able to unlock significant value for existing and new customers, especially new customers in the small and medium-sized enterprise segment.

As part of this launch, Siemens confirms its growth targets for its digital business announced at Capital Market Day in recent years. Siemens targets a compound annual growth rate of around 10 per cent over the business cycle. Digital revenues reached EUR 5.6 billion in the 2021 financial year. The launch of the business platform aligns with the shift to as-a-service offerings and anchors the goal of increasing annual recurring revenue.

Roland Busch adds:

“This is the logical next step in our digitalisation strategy to innovate and create value even faster. Siemens Xcelerator brings together the strength of our focused technology business with a thriving ecosystem of technology partners. We are joining forces to simplify digital transformation so that customers of all sizes can benefit quickly and scalably.”
