- Peter Herweck, CEO, gives keynote on the power of innovation for positive impact
- New solutions announced to increase energy efficiency and accelerate decarbonisation
- Strategic partnerships pave new ways to realise net-zero and sustainability ambitions
Schneider Electric, leader in the digital transformation of energy management and automation, has kicked off its Innovation Summit World Tour, highlighting the need for immediate action and continued collaboration to accelerate the energy transition and address the climate crisis.
“In the wake of a record global warming in 2023, we call on industry and businesses around the world to come together to drive meaningful change against the climate crisis. The technology exists today to drastically reduce emissions and bridge the gap between progress and sustainability,” said Peter Herweck, CEO of Schneider Electric. “Only through innovation and collaboration can we unlock new opportunities for digitisation, electrification and decarbonisation that have a lasting impact. Because together we can turn ambition into action.”
At the Innovation Summit Paris, Herweck called on global leaders from all sectors to accelerate their digital transformation and embrace technology and partnerships to achieve productivity and sustainability goals.
Schneider Electric's Innovation Summits, launched in 2016, showcase the company's latest innovations, solutions and partnerships driving the future of automation, electrification and digitalisation. This year, customers, partners and industry leaders will gather in Paris for a two-day programme of plenary sessions, breakout sessions, roundtable discussions and tours of the exhibition hall.
New solutions for greater impact
Schneider Electric unveiled new solutions designed to help companies strategise, digitise and decarbonise their operations to accelerate their sustainability promises.
CONNECT: an agnostic, end-to-end industrial intelligence platform that integrates engineering and operational data to provide insights across the entire value chain and ecosystem.CONNECT connects customers with Schneider Electric, AVEVA, etap, RIB and other third-party software vendors and uses AI and the intelligent digital twin to enable companies to unlock efficiencies and drive sustainability for responsible growth.
- eMobility portfolio expansion: Although EV use is growing exponentially, only about half (51%) of EV owners worldwide have a home charger. Schneider Charge offers an advanced home charging solution that is robust, cost-effective and easy to install. For fleet and charging station operators, we offer EcoStruxure EV Advisor and EVLink Pro DC 180 kW the very latest in electric vehicle (EV) charging and management. EVLink Pro DC fast charging station maximises energy efficiency and minimises electricity costs. EcoStruxure EV Advisor software-as-a-service helps improve the reliability and performance of charging stations by giving managers insight into charging performance, energy consumption and operational efficiency. Combined, they offer customers in fleets, car parks, commercial and residential buildings a flexible, open-source, end-to-end solution for EV charging.
Reliable charging infrastructure is critical to accelerating EV adoption, but skilled personnel are needed to install and maintain them. Schneider Electric also announced today the expansion of its North American partner Qmerit, the leading provider of distributed workforce management for EV charging, into European markets.
Collaborations for meaningful change
Partnerships and collaboration between industries and supply chains are essential to tackle the climate crisis. Schneider Electric is uniting industry leaders and value chains to drive greater decarbonisation and sustainability, through:
- Sustainability impact: The Sustainability Impact Award programme from Schneider Electric recognises partners, customers and suppliers who are decarbonising their own operations and those of their customers. By highlighting successes in emissions reduction, improved energy efficiency and implementation of digital technologies, companies can learn from each other to drive wider impact and further innovation.
- Decarbonisation of the supply chain: Materialize is an extension of Schneider's series of supply chain decarbonisation programmes, aims to unite leading companies in critical resources and materials to implement Scope 3 decarbonisation strategies. This will also facilitate the transition to a low-carbon economy. Suppliers can participate in energy purchasing agreements (PPAs) to reduce carbon emissions in global value chains, which typically account for more than 70% of a company's carbon footprint. The programmes continue to expand with Edwards, a global leader in vacuum and reduction solutions, which joins Schneider's Catalyze programme focused on decarbonising semiconductor value chains.
- Data centre partnerships: Building on 20 years of data centre collaboration, Schneider Electric and Digital Realty's new circular economy initiative will Digital Realty is expected to help reduce 50%-70% of stored carbon in its LV, MV and three-phase UPS equipment over the next 3-5 years. At the same time, e-waste and Scope 3 emissions will also be reduced. In addition, Schneider Electric's collaboration with NVIDIA - world leader in artificial intelligence - optimise data centre infrastructure and drive advances in edge AI and digital twin technologies.
