Thoughtful security with a touch of music

A collection point for dozens of brand-new cars obviously needs to be thoroughly secured. Moreover, D'Ieteren wanted to make use of the latest possibilities in the field of audio and intelligent automatic identification. Ceratec, responsible for general electricity works in Kontich, therefore approached the specialist DLC System Integrator from Wingene.

“After my undergraduate studies in electronics, I worked for a wholesale electrical company in the late 1990s,” says Bart De Loof, founder and business manager of DLC System Integrator. “There I was often confronted with the problems faced by the building owner, the architect and the electricity company in practice. One of the main problems was finding an efficient combination of products from different manufacturers. With this background, now almost a quarter of a century ago, I founded DLC as a system integrator.”

Comprehensive consultation

The installation of an integrated system for both intrusion protection, access control, camera surveillance, fire detection and audio communication required an extensive preliminary study. “For this, we consulted extensively with not only our clients, but also with the end users. Because on top of the anti-theft character, we like to deploy our security technologies as an everyday working tool for the end user. This definitely requires a broad understanding of daily activities on-site,” says Bart De Loof. “Smart access control alone involves more than 40 gates and 40 doors. Cameras are not just there to deter visitors with bad intentions. They are also very useful for evaluating daily routines, for example, or identifying the cause of any calamities. D'Ieteren also found it convenient that we could provide an audio system through our multimedia department, which it uses for background music and messages in the Mobility Centre.”

Artificial intelligence

“Our technical solutions are part of a world that continues to change constantly,” emphasises Bart De Loof. “Projects like the D'Ieteren Mobility Center are therefore an ongoing story. Based on our experience in the sports world, we offered CaaS (Camera Surveillance as a Service) here. In doing so, we supply high-performance Hanwha Vision cameras via an all-in rent solution, including AI model training. After five years, customers can choose higher-resolution cameras at the same monthly price, allowing them to deploy even higher-performance AI models and automate even more actions. Current applications include automatically identifying entering cars.”

Palmares

DLC System Integrator was previously responsible for the system integration of security operations in, among others, DPD's sorting warehouse in Vilvoorde, MG Square office building in Sint-Denijs-Westrem, transport company Eutraco and metal company Armasteel in the port area of Ghent and metal processor 247TailorSteel in Hooglede.
