Modularisering als basis voor standaardisatie en meer automatisering

Modularisation as a basis for standardisation and increased automation

This year's EF | A (Eplan Forum for Automated Engineering) event will take place in a hybrid format. As in previous years, the focus will be on modularisation, standardisation and automation. These topics are vital for both management and users in mechanical and plant engineering. After all, modularisation is the key to standardisation and, ultimately, to a higher level of automation. EF|A participants are personally guided, both on-site and online, towards automated engineering with advice and strategies.

Note the date: EF|A 2022, 28 & 29 September 2022

Monheim, Germany - Whether live in Düsseldorf or online during the global livestream, anyone interested can network with experts from other industries during the EF|A Forum. Eplan created a special area for this purpose, with the underlying idea that the full potential of automation thrives above all on practical examples, user experiences from all over the world and, last but not least, the personal dialogue between participants. The event will be streamed live; international participants can use simultaneous translation if they wish.

The focus is: meeting, exchanging ideas, networking

Presentations, workshops and hands-on sessions will provide ideas and encouragement for everyone, from top management to software users, on a wide range of topics, including:

- Modularisation of machines and products

- Standardisation in engineering

- Automatic creation of schematics, control cabinet layouts, parts lists and additional production documentation

- Wiring of digital twins of a machine

- Exchange ideas on ‘shopping and networking’ with other decision-makers.

Harold van Waardenburg, director of Go-to-Market Management at Eplan, says: “If you modularise your machine or plant system from the start of the development process, you lay the foundation for standardisation.” Eplan´s Director of Business Development Achim Potthoff adds, “The goal is the highest possible degree of automation, which we develop with tools and methodologies together with our customers.”

During the event, participants will be able to experience first-hand how this works in practice. On the theme “Making the product fit for digitally networked value creation”, the company Achenbach Buschhütten, which has successfully realised this with a modular building block, will give a presentation. Dr Sandra Szech, CEO of Odego, gives a talk on “How to make building block development a success” and shares her experiences in methodically developing and evaluating modular systems, among other topics. Companies Aartec Engineering BV and Sollich KG will also provide insights into practical applications both on site and online.

Other companies, including Grundfos and CadCabel, will also showcase their practical applications to EF|A participants. Experts from Eplan will complement these examples with methods and strategies for modularisation, standardisation and automated engineering using the eBuild, Eplan Cogineer and EEC solutions.

Trying it out yourself: the hands-on sessions

One of the highlights for online attendees are the hands-on sessions, where users can try out the Eplan software for themselves. Generating schematics or testing machine wiring on a 3D model, it can all be tested and tried out live for a quick first impression of and better understanding of the software's capabilities. Eplan partners, such as Configit, Encoway and SAE, will also be represented with presentations and virtual partner booths, and will be available both on site and online for questions and answers.
